I have searched this site extensively and cant find anything on this.

So here is the issue: On my 65 CJ5 restoration project, I installed a new wiring harness from "Keep it clean" that is for pre-72 CJ5s. Nice harness and everything has gone good. But now the tail lights are confusing me, and I am sure there is an easy answer that I just don't know. On the new wiring harness, I have 4 wires on each side STOP, TURN, TAIL, REVERSE. But on the CJ5 taillight I have 3 wires (STOP/TURN, TAIL, REVERSE. How do I deal with the fact that the wiring harness has separate wires for the turn signal and stop, but the taillight expects a single wire that is both turn and stop?

If it's got separate stop & turn circuit's it's not the the right harness for a jeep.

You could maybe kluge it with some diode's but without knowing more details on the harness and your turn signal switch it's hard to make a recommendation.

FLAPS will have little black-box converters for this situation, for trailer connections with compatibility problems.
