Does anyone know where I could find an Air cleaner Assembly. It would go on a 72 CJ5 - 304V8 with 4bbl Carb. Standard 5 1/8" carb base size. I have searched for universal 4bbl assemblies and not much out there so looking at models like a chevy 67-72 big block with 4bbl. I realize those would be for QuadraJet 4bbl but I am confident I could fab it to work with my Edelbrock AVS2 carburetor.

There are many new ones out there that I believe would work but priced anywhere from $200-$450 and I am hoping to find a used one in a junk pile that I can clean up and paint etc.

Would a factory air cleaner assy from a 360 2bbl work? I am thinking they are all the same including 304 2bbl and even the 4bbl 401. Some one else may know more precisely if they are compatible.

Yes, I would think so. Depends on the carburetor. The 304 was never offered with a 4V. Most Holley-pattern carburetors have a 5 1/4" diameter opening however. Don't know specifically re the Edelbrock, but I would guess so.

The opening will be right, but you may need a spacer to lift the air cleaner some and clear whatever shape the EB carb has. Likely you'll need to change or fab the hold-down stud. You'll have to try it. Suggest you advertise in the WTB forum here for a factory air cleaner and try it. The Wagoneer forums might also be a good source. You want something from the early '70s without the TAC motors and thermal sensors. The later examples will work, but you'd have to remove/defeat the emissions stuff. The later ACs will come with cold air induction though, if that appeals to you.

The Edelbrock has a standard 5 1/8" air cleaner mounting flange, there's all kinds of air cleaners out there that'll fit.
Q-jet, Holley, motorcraft 2V & 4V all are this size, as well as the vast majority of aftermarket air cleaners.
