I'm looking for info on the hood to grill pads versus a rubber weather strip across the top of the grill. And if anything is used up on the cowl. Maybe in the U channel in front of the hinges.
I have an early CJ5 but I have added the CJ7 long hood and fenders and I'm not quite sure about all the rubber seals and pads needed. Thanks.

My 74 had two rubber pads on the corner of the grille. Now I have a canvas weatherstrip there instead. Nothing on the cowl end from the factory. I added some short weatherstrip to both curved sides. I used some door weatherstrip off of a square body Chevy as I have a ton o parts for those.

Earliest for the rubber bumpers is 1974, possibly mid-year. '75 is 100% rubber bumpers. No seal between the cowl and the hood.

My 74 (April build date) came factory with the rubber bumping pads. They were worn out by 1980 and replaced The next time I used the fabric strap.

Looking at the '74-80 parts book, it only shows the 7/8" diam rubber pads between the grille and hood. My '73 had the fabric welt and clips, like earlier CJs.

I guess the grille I have is 71-73. It has 13 3/16" holes instead of the 4 1/4" for the 7/8" rubber pads.
I took an old grey seat belt that the inertia reel was bad and punched the holes, then folded it over a piece of 12 gauge solid core insulated house wire and used 3/16" stainless rivets.
    It looks good to me.
