    Hi everybody!
@Cj5dale ’s body work thread was timely for me as I had the same questions.
With the replies to his thread I think I will go the DIY route. New tools, new knowledge, whats to lose?

The question is, how much does a stripped tub weigh?
Can a buddy and I remove it by hand?
Can I move it around by myself?
Space is very limited here at the beach but I think I can make it work.

    Thanks for your thoughts!

Two people can lift a stripped tub off with little effort.
Just have to go over the steering column.

I am in my late sixties, and me and another old coot same age as me were able to lift a new tub off a trailer and walk it into my storage shed, but I am exceptionally strong for my age

To lift one off a chassis with the steering column in place you really should use some kind of hoist, or at least have three stout friends to help.

My inexperienced thoughts were to remove the steering column and shift tower so the only thing in the way would be the rear wheels or engine.
I think going backwards would be easier over the rear wheels.

Do consider the patches and amount of existing body filler. Mine has road signs for most of the previous repairs and would require more help.
it's a lot easier to book a hoist now than later. Also a lot cheaper than a strained back.

I agree with this idea 100%, no reason to work around that stuff since it is easy enough to get it out of the way and put it back after the tub is on the frame.

It's easy, pull the steering wheel and the clutch pedal.
    Up and over it goes.

My experience with a CJ2 tub matches those already noted. Two people can move it without too much effort and I can move it easily myself with an engine hoist.

It's possible to remove and install the tub alone without a hoist.

A hand truck makes moving it around easy.

A strong second for the hoist, especially if the maneuver area is tight. Just pulled a 73 (two 60year olds) and it was heavy enough to make the hoist the way to go. We used the same engine hoist that pulled the motor to swing the body up and onto the trailer with a couple of ratchet straps.

I would be hard pressed to leave the column in without a valid reason.
