Got one of these kits in a trade with a buddy today. Will these work with the odd fire engine?

I believe this is a second generation holly unit. It is around 15 years old and i don't see any tach or pulsed signal. That said almost any thing can be made to work in some fashion.
You could use a lawnmower carb. How much hair do you have now? I am no expert and just took a quick look and compared to what the new style units are using for inputs.
A couple of posts I read.

Holley Pro-Jection 2/4D EFI systems were never "well tuned". They were very crude EFI systems that lacked any real tuning capability.

I would say you DO NOT want this one, I wouldn't even use it in a non performance grocery getter application.

Slap a crank sensor on it and it should work just fine.
Personally I’d go with a sniper EFI kit and crank sensor or a AFI kit using GM TBI and a crank sensor, I can provide you with a good tune, and if your marginally creative I can save you $600 and allot headache over buying from Howell.

I have one of those on stock 318 Mopar and I can second what vtxtasy says. I can't say it's any better than a well tuned carburetor.

Im running the AFI tbi kit and crank trigger setup with AFI's base tune and it works great.

I'm glad to hear you got it put together.
Did I send you the tune that I have?

I see where we talked about it way back when you were EFI options. If you ever decide you want to try a custom tune let me know.
