    That was a great explanation.. I never really looked at one closely. Now I don't have to haha.. Oddly a very similar setup is used for turbine control in large power plants.. Well, before the advent of electronic controls that is. Now it's all digital/hydraulic. There are still even a couple of large nuclear stream turbines in operation that use nothing but mechanical/hydraulic controls. It's the biggest Rube Goldberg you have ever seen.. This si a very basic one..
