I had a glass shop install a new windshield in my bottom wiper curved top windshield frame. It's an Omix frame. I provided a gasket kit to the shop that I bought from a reputable seller. The glass apparently went in fine as I didn't hear anything back from the installer.
I've been driving in the rain a fair bit lately and I'm getting a leak. The installer centered the seam of the gasket on the bottom. When I'm running my wipers it's a steady drip out of the seam.
I don't see any evidence of a sealer having been used. Is there normally some sealant used in this location?

FWIW…. The seam on the windshield on my ‘70 cj5 is located in the same spot. I don’t believe mine has ever been replaced.

I put the seam on mine at top, and I did seal it by first putting masking tape on the frame to catch any runout I then spread the seam apart with a knife blade and injected some super glue which bonds the rubber together. I suppose other sealants could be used and may be needed it the seam isn't tight, but the super glue seems to have worked very well for mine.

BTW - I have 3 early windshields, one from a 66, the other two from 67s, and all 3 had the seam at top on what I am pretty sure were original rubber. The one which was on the 67 in my avatar was open nearly 1/4" and of course it leaked.

I have a nice door panel removal kit that contains some plastic wedges. I would pry it back and squeeze some of the Right Stuff in to it.
Wipe the excess and smooth out with a wet finger. I put my seam at the top and the retainer at the bottom. I have used this on torn
windshield rubber and it came out looking good. I used windshield butyl rubber to seal the opening for the bottom of the under the
seat mounted gas tank. Worked well and is very tenacious.
