Diagonal Footman Left Of Mirror - What Is It For?

    I just finished restoring a windshield frame for my 67 CJ5 and while attaching the mirror and tie down strap I was looking at the diagonal footman loop which is welded to the frame a little to the left of center. I have long wondered what purpose it is supposed to serve.

    I am curious again, but have not found an answer through searches.

    Anybody know?

    Never mind. I found a thread on another forum that explains this diagonal loop is for keeping the tie down strap from dangling when not in use.
