Wish I knew, but that what it mikes out to. A Std piston is sloppy a .020 over won't go.
Not sure the owner will be very happy boring it $$$ :)
    Std pistons with .010 rings?

Be better to bore it to .020, but you should be able to get by using Std pistons with .010 rings. You will probably have to file some to get the ring gaps right.

Properly fitted oversize rings are not a way to "get away with close enough fitting parts" they fit like they are supposed to fit. :bananatool:

I agree with "73 CJ5". When I rebuild an engine I want to be sure it is going to last and nowadays I would bore it to the next oversize rather than using oversized rings, but in my earlier years I didn't always have a lot of extra money and using oversized rings was once a pretty common way to overhaul an engine without spending what it takes to "rebuild" an engine.

The reason I said it would be better to bore it .020 over is because the bores might have too much taper to use oversized rings. If you measure and find it within spec, using oversized rings is an acceptable, but not optimum solution. It is important to set the ring gap at the narrow point of the bore.

Talked it over with the owner and wants it bored. I also explained what the JEEP acronym stands for.
