Just thought I would give my thoughts on the new repop carb that has splashed all over ebay and other sites. First off it looks fantastic and very much resembles an original L-head carb in every way. However, it doesn't run at all. I bolted one on and could not make it run at all. I have been very disappointed in the solex style carbs lately so was hoping this was a good option. Save your money and keep looking for rebuildable original carbs.

Yeah, I wouldn't fool with the repop stuff whether a Solex copy, or a WO copy.

Rebuildable cores are out there, as well as quality kits with modern materials that stand up to modern fuels. Getting ready to rebuild one myself to replace the Solex on a 46 CJ2A I have.

    What exactly isn't it doing?
Just out of curiosity, have you disassembled it to see what the hang up is?
It would be interesting to see if it is a casting issue, small parts issue, or simply poor manufacturing.

    Daryl,

I do hope you will try to see what is wrong with that repop carburetor. I too have seen them, as you said all over Ebay and other sites, even some big name suppliers list them. For what they cost I am surprised they won't work.

I think the Solex I am about to replace is a real Solex, and they aren't really bad carburetors once you have them set up and in their happy spot, but I prefer a good Carter WO on my Jeeps.
