    Hello,

I've come to the conclusion that I should probably get some seat belts for the front of the CJ5 that have shoulder harnesses. Right now I just have lap belts. I was thinking of a 3 point style and attach the shoulder harness to the roll bar. My Jeep has the basic original style roll bar. Additionally, I was hoping to stick with something that has chrome lift-the-flap style buckles just to keep a vintage asthetic.

So far this is the best I've found

    https://www.seatbeltsplus.com/product/CH300.html

    Or with a retract mechanism

I'll have to do some measuring and see if I even have room for a retract mechanism next to the seats.

Does anyone have any other sources? These look nice but are a bit high in price.

    Thanks,
    Ken

Wow, Those look Period for our Jeeps, if I had a roll bar I would use them, Ken. Very Cool. Rick

What you're thinking about is exactly what I've been running in my 70 for years. I use the stock lap belt mounting points, and a threaded insert welded to the rollbar. I had a pro do the welding job. Be careful with the placement on the rollbar, this will affect where the seatbelt comes across your shoulder.
I cannot recommend the seatbelts plus belts that you linked above...I ran those for years and hated them the whole time. The retractors are junk. I recently installed a set from Juliano's Hot Rod parts and I'm much happier!

I used julianos based on some comments here and have been very happy. Same thing: welded a bung into roll bar.

Don't buy the cheap ones. A seat belt / harness is something you hope never to put through the test of a roll over, and you dang sure don't want to find a failure at that point. Late model factory equipment such as the TJ belts mentioned are made to meet government standards and are probably the best economical approach especially if you can find a set in a Junk yard.

I like those Julianos sets because the lift latch is a lot easier to release when you are hanging upside down. Button latches can be difficult with your weight on them. Don't ask me how I know.

I use RJS belts (for5 point non retractable) and/or Wesco retractable belts (3 point) in all of my vehicles. They seem reasonably priced, and last a long time (oldest ones i have are around 12 years old). In my TJ, I run both 5 point and 3 point, I like that. Ease of a 3 point retractable for driving around town, and security of a 5 point when offroad.
