I'm looking for a new clutch kit for my 1967ish CJ5 with T14. At some point it was converted to a cable operated clutch.

I was having issues with the clutch becoming sticky when operated under higher power settings. It took a little extra pedal pressure to disengage the clutch and I could feel a little pop as it released. It wasn't the cable sticking as there was a little pedal movement prior to reaching the point of resistance.

Since the vehicle was a plow Jeep in its former life I decided it was probably worth just replacing the clutch assembly entirely.

I got the transmission and old clutch out and sent the flywheel to the machine shop for resurfacing. Here is the old part:

Which clutch kit would you recommend for my application? I see LUK 01029 is popular with some people but others appear to have fitment issues. RockAuto claims MU54721 is a popular item.

Does anyone make a decent replacement clutch fork? The clutch fork in it has a previous repair to the spring that retains the release bearing so I might want to replace it while it's out.

    Any help is appreciated

I hear luk is a good clutch, I have a new set on the shelf but not installed yet. First impression is it appears to be good quality. Just save all your old parts just in case.

I have used Luk or Sachs or even some off brands on sale from rock auto.

the problems I had were fitting the sm420 to the clutch kit. You should be fine.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up getting a Luk kit. After reviewing other people's issues further it seems it's a matter of getting the correct clutch for your application. This one appears to match my old unit.
