Engine Mount Shim

i have 1972 cj 5 with 304 y wound some shim right side motor mount 1/2

 

Whatcha asking?

 

My CJ7 doesn't have any shims under the engine mounts. I just plucked a 304 out of a commando and that didn't have anything either.

 

"why would someone shim the right side motor mount 1/2 inch"... I'd suspect they had trouble getting the mount to line up when they put the engine in and that was the quick and easy fix..

 

Does the 304 use a left and right (diff size) like the 225's?

Yes, the frame mounts have different offsets, moving the engine over to one side by about 1-1/2” to 2” from center. The mounts bolt to the frame rather than being welded like the Dauntless.

Reckon he has the mounts swapped like I have seen on a few 225's. Causes the engine to slope down on pass side.

 

The rubber mounts are the same for both sides.

 

I was meaning motor mounts not frame mounts.
