"Everything I thought was going to be an easy fix turns out to not be an easy fix." I wonder what brand those tires are.

I had tires like that on an M38 I owned 35 years ago. I think Coker has them under the Firestone branding.

Problem with his test set up is these pumps are really designed to have fuel gravity fed into the inlet before it can really "suck" any fuel. So, with his set up there was only air in the inlet line. He resolved that by priming the inlet hose.

I use a small 3 gal boat tank for supply for this because it has a priming bulb, and just run the output line to another container.

Like most, this video would have been much more watchable if edited to one-quarter of the time.

Just had the same problem with a Napa pump. Took it back, got another one and it had the same problem. Too much free play in the pump lever before it moves the pump diaphragm.

This video is a classic example of way you don’t toss those old worn out parts in the trash bin. They are made better than the new crap parts that are supplied today. The old parts actually work as intended.
