‘75 304. Generally speaking it runs fine, with the exception of a slight rough idle and no vacuum leaks i can find. My problem is when I’m driving and give it the beans, I get a large whiff of raw fuel. There are no fuel leaks, so I’m stumped. Can anyone point me in the right direction

Is the tank mostly full? Fuel could be sloshing around and coming out the filler neck at the cap when you get on the gas?

Do you only smell it DURING acceleration? Or immediately after on the decel?

Standard things to check are the garb gaskets, fuel lines (especially if there's a filter somewhere connected by rubber hose clamps). Have someone work the gas pedal while you check. Your accelerator pump on the carb could also be leaky.

Tank is generally at least 3/4 full and always has a hint of smell, maybe from the vented cap. During acceleration is when it shows and of course, still there on deceleration. Ive checked for leaks, in the I’ve pulled over and physically checked and all i got was a fuel smell, no leaks. I’m no carb expert, but is it possible it’s over fueling, somehow? Runs ok, no stumbling, so…. I’m stumped

Pull the spark plugs and post a picture with a quick shut off from cruise. (Kill and coast into a parking lot)
And another picture with a quick shutoff after a long hard pull (kill and coast at the top of pikes peak)

I just got the sloshing fuel reference. I’m old, ok? I’m going to try wrapping the fill cap in a shop rag and check

Without taking it anywhere, i walked around and gave it the old sniff test. No smell from cap of tank area. Opened hood and carb sprayed the outside of the carb to clean out any residue. Sniffed around and got nothing until i took the air filter off, then a strong smell of fuel. Ran it a bit with similar results. I did read somewhere that too much fuel pressure may do it, so i turned it down from the 5.5 psi it was to 3.5 and ill check in a couple days
