    navy67 It's a Jeep thing!

I don't have a meter... is there an easy way to trst to see if a coil is good?

One way to check a suspect coil is to swap in a coil that you know is good.

Good point! But I don't want to buy one if I know that this one is still good?

You could rig it up on the work bench. Or maybe just test it in the jeep. Stick a plug on the end of the coil wire, and hook 12 to the pos terminal. Use a old condensor from neg terminal to ground. Then take a hunk of wire and drag it across a grounded file.... You should get a stream of fire on the spark plug, and a trail of sparks at the file.

This is your simplest breaker point ign system.

Just to learn something, try this:
When the above is hooked up, ground the negative terminal (leave the condenser hooked up). Notice something funny? No spark.
    Now disconnect the wire. Spark!!!

Sometimes it is the simple things in life that make it fun.
