I got to thinking about nice things to have on the trail for repair work. Well It would be nice to have a vise on the trail to install U joints with. Well Vices are heavy and bulky to charteristics that dont go well with jeeps. So I thought of a simple solution just make a Reinforced noch in the front or rear bumper that the yoke would fit into. That way you could stick the end of the yoke into the noch the U-joint ears would catch the sides and You would be able to hit the drive shaft to drive the U-joint out. On a drive shaft with the "thick" ends it would give you a solid place to hammer but have a hollow spot to drive the cap to. Have any of yall tried any thing like that ? What do yall think?

What's wrong with a big C clamp and a cheap pair of sockets? :D

Mebbe set up your notch so that you can utilize a c clamp?
Take a piece of thick walled tubing or a piece of bar stock the right size to fit inside the drive shaft hole, and weld that to the bumper, then place the drive shaft, c clamp and socket, then drive it out.

I have considered bolting a vice to a piece plate, welded to a piece of 2" square tube. Slip it into the front or rear receiver when needed. Could add another receiver to carry or mount the vice out of the way somewhere when not in use, such as on the spare tire carrier, or between the front framerails (assuming no winch).

I just haven't gotten around to this yet

I'll just carry an extra driveshaft. R)R) probably about the same weight.
