soft top windshield channel replacement

    Can the soft top windshield channel be replaced, mine is rusted out bad on the top edge. The rest of the windshield frame is solid so I hate to get rid of it. Its a top wiper model.

    I don't see why not mine is just "C" channel with the open end down. Mike

    The "C" channel is good too. It seems to be the flat piece just above the "C" channel that looks to be welded in place. Maybe I'll just cut it out and grind it down to bare metal. Thanks Mike

    I have a 70' with the bottom mount WW motor. My top hooks in the "C" channel then make a 270 degree turn across the top of the windsheild frame and then hooks to the top bow aft of the roll bar. I don't have anything other than the "c" channel on my windsheild frame. Mike

    I believe the flat piece you're referring to is part of the C channel. It's rolled and then the flat part is what's spot welded to hold the channel on. You'll have to determine how sturdy it is when you're done grinding.

    Thats exactly right Glenn, its pretty flakey behind the flat part. Of course so am I. R)
