Well, I've had my new Jeep for about 3 weeks now and am wanting to try to get a list together of maintenance, checks, and things to look out for that I should perform on it to make sure its running tip top. Nothing too extensive at this point just some backyard TLC.

Best bet is to pick a FSM or a Chiltons book.

Tip #1. If it ain't leaving oil drips everywhere, it probably needs oil. ;)

I agree with the FSM. Pick a weekend, do what you can, repeat the following weekend until everything looks good. Once you've touched every point to your satisfaction, then you can set a schedule.

i would first change all the fluids and do inspections and see how everything is.
    Front Axle
    Rear Axle
    Tranny
    Transmission
    Engine.
    Check the knuckles for oil

I would also get a new dist cap, rotor, points, and wires, and spark plugs.

Make sure to grease everything you can, Tie rods, ujoints.
You might even want to replace the ujoints but i would definitly check them out
Maybe rebuild the carb. and replace the igntion coil.
