P/S Pump and Bracket 225 question

    I bought a pump and Bracket that were supposed to fit the 225 off a mid 80 buick. Darn'd if I can figure how it mounts. I think I got ripped.
    I've looked at the pictures on fabricating and they aren't very close but it looks way different from mine.
    anybody have a picture of just the bracket on an engine or off.

    I used a bracket off an '88 Buick Regal. There seem to be various brackets used depending on the accessories on that particular engine. I'll see if I can post a pic Sunday.

    Am I making this too hard? Will any Buick v-6 from the 80's work?
    It would be nice to have a list of what mounts will fit the 225. Also it seems my HEI is in the way some.
    I'm doing Herms P/S conversion.
    Is it easier to convert the original column or use something like an S-10.
    Again it would be nice to have a list of columns guys have used with success.
    Scotty's Jeep (worlds largest they say) auto wrecking is within a half hour of me. Would it make the most sense to go there and try to buy a jeep column and pump bracket?
    I have a GM pump now but am thinking of getting a Ford as someone suggested it was then easier to get hoses. to connect to my ford reverse power saginaw.

    Yes, 231 if it has a triangle pattern mount will work I have used several of them. On the other hand I cant help you on on which one. I have one in the garage floor of of an early eighties 4.1 that was on my engine but it is different fom one that is on my 225 that was from the late seventies that I made work. Column seems to be a personal taste thing. I like swapping in a Saginaw column 'cause they're cheap easy to get and have everything already in them. Others like the stock colums or dj postal column for origionality and simplicity. For me one is about as much work as the other. hth

    I've never heard of a saginaw column. What, where, etc???

    Jeep after 75 used saginaw or GM columns. You can use S10 small body Cutlass, Regal, Malibu out of the eighties. I've used wagoneer, Cheerokee, Camaro-Firebird to name a few.

    Just have a hydraulics place or auto parts store that does hoses fab up a set with Ford style on one side and GM on the other, not a big deal.

    I'd stay with the GM steering pump. The Fords are notorious for leaking, early failures, and are almost always noisy. I worked for two Ford dealerships in the past so have personal knowledge.......
