My CJ is a 74 model. Two questions...

    1) Did these models have the shift pattern decal on the dash & if so, what is the correct placement...The correct decal is available.

    2) Did these models have the "4 Wheel Drive" decal on the tailgate? I don't believe they did (but I really like the look  )

I got one of the bearcreek decals a couple of weeks ago for my 75 CJ5. Proper decal was #5. Kinda expensive, but excellent quality and fast service. Not sure where it is suppose to be located, be I decided to put mine directly over the transfer case knob, 'bout a 1/4 inch from the bottom lip of dash. Looks great !

Re your questions, I don't remember there being a shift pattern decal. There was a VIN decal in the southwest corner of the dash. The "Four Wheel Drive" tailgate design was a stencil on earlier years IIRC, but not present after the change to the modern tailgate lettering.

As far as I know no, the 74 did not come with either. My 74 has never been painted inside or out and I have neither. I have spent a lot of time, too much, looking at other 74s and I have not seen either.

My had never been painted, until I did so. No shift or 4WD on my gate either. I like the looks of both, but if I am going to stay true to the restoration, I will forego both. Thanks for the input.
