The last outing took a toll on the Jeep. I ended up busting the driver's front shock clean off; mounts and all (it wasn't very pretty). Since the shocks are old and I need to do a bit of work anyway, I was thinking of replacing all of them. Anyone had better luck with one brand over another? Or does it really matter?

Sounds like my first outing in my CJ. 2 front shocks trashed. Rear shock broke the lower mount.

I personally prefer the hydraulic shock to gas charged. They seem to do a better job of absorbing bumps and things.

I currently have Skyjacker hydros on the rear and ProComp Hydros on the front. Both are relatively inexpensive and seem to work well now that I fixed my other problems.

The Rancho 9000s seem to be good.
