T-18 Transmission Bolts?

Here's another goofy question; do these two bolts hold anything inside the transmission? I was thinking about using them to mount a bracket for the OD shifter and was afraid to take them out. I didn't find anything about them in the FSM. They're on the passenger-side of the trans. Thanks.

No, those bolts don't hold anything inside. I believe they are used to mount an e-brake handle on big truck applications. I used the one on the shift tower to mount mine (looks like there is a bolt there already holding your transfer case shifter.)

Edit: What I meant to say was I used the bolt casting on the shift tower to mount my OD shifter.

    nickmil In mothballs.

What GrandpaJeep said. They were also used to hold transfer case shift linkage in other 4 wheel drive applications. Nickmil.
