So our '59 cj5 is running better and better. We actually drove it allong a rr rack service road. Not confident to go too far from home yet. Getting a mechanical sound out of the transmission so I changed the oil in the engine, tranmission, tranfer case and both differentials. They had varying degrees of oil condition except the trans/tr case...They were full of water! So I let it drip, added new oil and went for a drive. It's much quieter now but I'm wondering what damage has been done. Is there nything I should do for it? Maybe run it a while and change it again? The front seal on the transfercase was dripping oil at first but I think it's stopped now.

I'd run it long enough to get it warm, then change it again while its still warm.
Unless it was in there along time you should be fine.

I would drain both the tranny and tc and take a look. It's pretty easy to pull the top of the transmission off with the floor panel removed and take a look, and drop the pan on the tc.
