I just picked up a replacement tub for my rusty 73. I found a 74 tub for $150.00 at a junk yard. The yard owner said it had been sitting in the yard for almost 20 years. I can't believe I had never seen it there before:? . He said it was perfect when he got it, just a blown engine. There are now a few thin spots in the floor and under the roll bar. It's still in decent shape after sitting out all these years. The 74 tub had a 304 in it. Anyhow what I was wondering is: the 74 tub has CJ5 emblems glued on it just under the "Jeep" stamping on the side of the body. I seem to recall that back then the only CJ5's that had this emblem were the 304 V-8 powered ones. I could be totally wrong about that as I am relying on my memory. Can anyone verify if this is right or wrong? Any suggestions on how to remove them without damaging them? Or are they still easy to find, I don't recall seeing them very often any more so I thought I should make sure before I attempt to do anything with it.

A heat gun might work to get the emblem off. It works good taking license tabs from plates without any damage.

'72 and '73 had the V8 emblems if a V8. The '74s and '75s had the CJ5 emblem as I recall, 6 and V8 both. I think that emblem continued to the end.

I've read that you can pull dental floss under the emblems to remove them, but I haven't tried it.

My 74 has them and it's always been a 6cyl. Since the emblem is plastic I wouldnt' use a heat gun on it. Try slicing through the sticky goo that holds it on with either a long thin blade or dental floss and then once the emblem is off you can use heat to remove the rest of the sticky goo from the Jeep. I don't think the emblems are all that rare or hard to get, I recall seeing them in one of the Jeep catalogs.

Thanks everyone, if the emblems were going to be hard (I didn't know if they were or not) to come by I didn't want to screw them up. Even if they were wrong for mine someone else could have used them.
