    Just trying to get hte pros and cons of a leaf spring lift versus a coil lift. I'm only going to lift it 2.5 inches because I have heard any higher and they are pretty prone to rolling. Any opinions on that rolling philosophy and any opinions on a good lift for less than 500.
    Figured in tech forum it would have to be kinda dry on the answers. Here in off topics the answers can colorful, i.e...."Dave, I'd go with the Pam Anderson lift kit, it has pics of her naked on the shocks."
    Anywho, seriously, kinda looking for one, not sure what to do, and if anyone has one they took off and is in good shape and wants to sell, hey, let me know that too. Thx Geaux LSU Tigers!!!
    :hurrican::shock:

    It got moved. However, it got moved to the wrong forum, it should be in the intermediates!!!!! It is a 74'

    Re: Prob should be in tech: lift question

    Coils are not something that are easy to put into one of these Jeeps. I am not saying that it can't be done but leaves are already there and basic. The whole rolling thing I believe is overblown, I have been in many CJs that are way higher then 2.5" and the only time I have gone over was when the guy basicly tried to roll the Jeep.

    Is there coil kit for the '74's? I've read about them for YJ's but have only heard about teasers or kits that didn't make it into production for the earlier Jeeps. You certainly aren't going to do a coil conversion for < $500 either way....

    A lift is only one factor when it comes to rollovers anyway...the taller stance can be offset with wider wheels.

    BDS has gotten good reviews for their lifts here in the past.

    Any jeep is going top roll if you don't treat it with respect, and drive it conservatively. IMHO, most rollovers and other stuipd stunts usually begin with something like "hey, watch this!". :rofl:

    A bigger concern for a lift of more than 2.5" is the driveshaft and steering arm angles. At 2.5" you are likely to need to address both of these issues, and at 4" lift you definitely will.

    A coil spring conversions on a leaf-spring vehicle is definitely not for the faint of heart; This is a major job that needs someone with experience and GOOD welding skills to accomplish.
