    Folks-

Percival's temp gauge has started going wacko - temp is running up to "H" for no apparent reason, and engine isn't over heating - have checked coolant level, etc.. Can only be the Temp sending unit or the speedo temp gauge. Which one is more prone to failure?

If it is the gauge (hope not) can this be repaired separately, or do I have to spring for a new speedometer?

    Thanks-

    Eck

Don't know what year your JEEP is, on my 70' the temp gauge is removable from the speedo assembly and I have seen them for sale. Mike

Yes, you can replace just the gauge.... Un hook the temp sensor wire, and put it to ground, the gauge should read hot. Pull it away from ground, it should read cold.... If it does this, your sending unit is no good...

John, there is also a potential problem with your fuel gauge. It has a built in regulator for lower voltage to supply the instruments, and, (I think) the low voltage to the coil. Mine's been screwed up for so long I forget how it all went...... I bought new gauges (cheesy ones, too), and still haven't gotten them right. I haven't spent any time on it since i put them in...........
