Could someone please tell me what is the best way to remove the engine. I have a hoist but don't know what type of chain to buy and how to hook it up to the engine to support the weight. Pictures would be great.

We take the hood, fenders and grill off 1st.
Just use a carb lift plate.
Some times you can find an engine in a junk yard that has lift plates on it already. Imports I think :? then use two longer bolts on oppisite ends of the intake.
    Grade 8 chain.
I used to have a leveler for a hoist that was nice.

The body is completely off at this point. How do you connect the chain to the bolts. Are you saying just run the bolt threw the chain and into the intake

Joel, nice pic. I've never heard of a carb lift-plate. Neat concept! I may be needing one of those here soon. Where to get?

But....doesn't the attached tranny tilt that baby backwards big-time upon lifting? How to correct 4 it? Thanks!

If you don't have the carb plate, just use opposite intake manifold bolts, or bolt holes on the ends of the heads.....

I picked up a leveler yesterday so I'm all ready to pull the engine and tranny this weekend. Hopefully it doesn't all come crashing to the floor.

OK, that link didn't work. Do a search at Harbor Freight for "load leveler". I've got one, it works great. You crank it back or forth to adjust the center of gravity and balance the load.
