I figured I'd get that. Not going anywhere - I just need a trail rig that's a little more "family friendly" - IYKWIM. Otherwise, my hobby will turn into a solo hobby for me, which means much less time spent doing it. With a newer Jeep and all the safety features that come with it, I can let little Molly ride along even if it's just around town. With the gas fumes and all the quirks of an early CJ, I wouldn't feel comfortable with her in the back seat until she's about 5... Figured I'll get something to fill the gap during that time.

That's exactly the way my drive shaft looked on old Nixon. I never did replace it and I never fixed the vibration either. I blamed it on out of balance wheels and or tires.

FWIW, I just had my Tom Woods shaft repaired. The CV joint went bad. The improvement was tremendous. Nice and smooth. I'd highly recomend that you just take your shaft to a drive line shop and tell them to fix it. They'll cut it and re-weld it so the ends aline then balance it and you'll be in business. Not sure what it'll cost, but IMO it'd be worth it. If you buy a used shaft you're going to want new joints and a balance job. I'd just take yours and have them rebuild it with new joints, rotated like it should be and balanced. 10 minutes under the jeep and you'll be ready to go.
