IMHO it looks like the same "less than stellar quality" wipers that all the Jeep dealers sell. You'll likely find that:

    - the shaft will be too long, requireing you to either backspace the motor back or dissassemble it and cut the shaft down

    - The arm will "walk" on the shaft.

    - The blade won't clear the water anyway, just move it around some.

Compare it to something like this - note how much better the arm and blade look.

Well worth the extra money, IMHO.

    Boyink,
Are you using the AFI and does it have enough sweep to give a good view? What's the length of the blade? After spending several hours on the vacuum motor, a solid gold motor would be cheap!

I'm not using the AFI...I tried the black plastic versions of the replacement motors like you linked to and had all the problems I mentioned.

My solution - both for better wipers and visibility (I'm 6'3") - was to swap an intermediate w/s frame on with the wiper motor on the bottom outside.

The AFI motors came up on a search here, so maybe someone else has used them. If you google "afi wiper" you'll find other links - maybe with more detailed info.

I have had one of "those type motors", 90deg sweep. Works okay. Go for the good one especially if yours is a daily driver.

i just finished wiring mine up yesterday. They work Ok, and are better than nothing. I have burned a few up and they are cheap quality, but if you do not need them for everyday use or live in a palce that rains all the time, you will be fine. The last set i burned up, i ran them for about 4 horus straight, then once i shut them down, they never worked again :(

Two words that one needs to remember when operating old-timey vehicles with vacuum wipers/old "iffy" wipers:

    RAIN-X

tried those, ran twice and died. modified the setup from an intermediate to work with the top mount. only issue was being to cheap @ the time to use the motor and switch to have intermitant wipers instead of the 2 speed.

It says: Bosch Germany Imported Allemage. There are no numbers on either of them.
I cleaned and painted the covers. They were just bear metal originally. Here are a
couple of shots. I ran across some on line once, I'll see if I can track them down.
