I just redid my front brakes on my 69CJ5. They are 10 inch and not really all that bad. However as I was doing the replacement I looked at the self adjusters and I couldn't tell that they were doing much. One was even broken which might account for my erratic pull!! I don't mind adjusting brakes, has anyone just taken them off?

Long ago I converted my F100's 11" Bendix brakes to manual adjust becasue the backing plates were so worn that the self-adjusters didn't work. Worked ok, but adjusting the brakes was a PITA. EIS used to sell a kit for conversion - you may not be able to find them now though.

My 71 has 10" brakes front and back. The front are self adjusting and the rear have no self adjusting hardware. I hope to switch to 11" self adjusting on the rear.
