I got the new hub today, (thank you Chris Bentley) and I need to put wheel studs in. Is it possible to press out the ones in my old drum and press them into the new?

Are the old studs swedged to the drum? If they are, then they are most likely history. I would just get new studs for the new hub. If you are planning on re-using the drum, then you need to cut then grind the swedged studs flat to the drum. Then you will be able to seperate the drum from the old hub without damaging the drum.

No swage. These are clearly a press fit.

Smack em out with a BFH and a punch. Use new ones in the new hubs.

I've had good luck by using an impact socket on the "head" side of the stud, and then putting the whole assembly into a big vise and using the jaws to press them out. Make sure the socket is just big enough to fit over the head of the stud so it doesn't distort the hub/drum. A little heat from a torch, applied to the hub/drum will also help! ;)

Are they re-useable or do i need to buy new? If I need to buy new are they a FLAPS item?
If I have to buy new then I don't need to take the old ones out.

i would suggest just getting new ones, if you have a new hub, it would be just easier to gt new ones and know they are not history

A deep socket and BFH , just make sure the head diameter of the stud will easily into fit the socket. Don't forget the cold bev. What ever you do -DO NOT HIT YOUR FINGER- it will hurt. I've tried that.

Thanks all. I went to carquest and bought 5 studs for $10 and they even pressed them and the new bearing races in for "no Charge". One of my new bearings wouldn't go onto the spindle (inside one) so I just used an old one which was still good. Not sure what that was about though.
