Obviously this is a problem , It appears the notch in the rod is offset too much anyone ever run into this, I guess i should get another rod. What are your thoughts?

Jeshhhhh, that looks like a totally WRONG cap. Look at the bevel, they are very different.

At the risk of asking a potentially dumb question, are you SURE that the cap isn't 180* off? Do any of the other rods have a similar mismatch? With some engines, the cylinder number is stamped on the rod AND on the cap.

Actually the bevel is fine I think bad lighting in the pic the cap is fine its the rod thats off ,the bearing sticks out past the side of the rod I cant even fit it to thr crank because the bearing hits the rod beside it.

I am open to any dumb questions but its the rod thats off ,all of the others match up fine this just happened to be the last one to get installed. I just dont know how it worked before unless some one ground off the excess bearing thst was sticking out past the side of the rod.

Is this a v6 or F-head rod. Is this the original rod, if it is and the original bearing fit fine then obviously your new ones are wrong. I have not seen this before but do agree that unless you are positive of alignment, the cap may be off 180ยบ.
Sorry saw your last post, get a new rod then don't grind off the excessive bearing material. Measure the alignment slot in another rod and check them carefully.
    This is strange.

    Mike ,
Its a v-6 motor was rebuilt once before and this rod did come out of this motor If I spin the cap 180 its actually worse but the problem I am sure is the rod. It appears the notch in the rod is in the wrong place hence the bearing sticks out beyond the side of the rod. I am going to take it by my machinest in the morning. everythin was going so well untill this.

Just measured the placement of the notch from another rod to this rod with a dial gauge waaaaaay different going for new rod tomorrow the previous rebuilder must have done some hack grinding to get it to work this is why i'm doing this myself.
    Thanks guys Steve
