I'm trying to locate a source for a new timing cover. Are they still available? Is there any chance I can use one from a 231.

Also is there someone that has pictures of the parts at the end of the camshaft out to the thrust button and a place to order them. The books I have don't show this very well. Thanks! Adam

231 RWD Timing Covers will interchange with 225 covers, but evenfire timing covers have different timing marks.

I think I bought a cam button and spring for my 4.1L from Rockauto.com. The part number is Cloyes 9-5189 and the current price is $9.29 if it is the same as for the 225.

I also have a near perfect timing cover for the rwd 3.8L and 4.1L engine iif you are interested and it will work for you. It is for the 14 bolt oil pan and has a removable timing tab. I have been cleaning it up to list it on ebay one of these days.

New ones are frequently listed on ebay, some with the high-volume oil pump built in.

    This is one example:

I am by no means a guru on what timing covers fit what in the Buick V6 line, but you need to watch if you are buying a new one that fits the 231 (3.8L) and the 4.1L. Buick switched from 14 to 20 bolts in the mid 80's. Some of the newer covers are drilled for both as is the above example that is listed on ebay.

You wouldn't want to accidently buy a 20 bolt cover for your 225. Just looking at them, the 20 bolt is more pointed in the front as is the one that is listed on ebay that is drilled for both.

    Happy shopping,

    JC
