I think I'm going to replace the shackels on my '53 A1. I was poking around at 4wd.com and saw that there are left and right threaded shackels. Now, can I assume that I need 2 lefts and 2 rights to do all 4 on my M38a1? I'm hoping that replaceing my origional (yes, origional from '53) would help quiet down some of the squeeks and noises coming from the springs.

    Anyone replaced these style shackels?

I know what they are, but nothing beyond that. Maybe G503 can help?

If it is the same parts as a CJ5, then you'll probably need 2 left and 2 right. I needed 4 rights for my '57 Cj5 as apparently mine was produced just after the changeover.

Can't be too hard to test this, just turn each one enough to determine it's direction. Prolly won't even have to jack up the vehicle.....
