Does anyone offer a kit for a D27 and D44 disc swap? i know i can piece it together but i didn't know if anyone had a kit with little fabbing...i have a small shop but time is what gets me...and it is for my DD.

if one doesn't exist...does any one have an extensive list\procedure i could use to purchase parts and install...i will have to do it over a weekend and try and keep it under 500 for both axles.

Search the tech section. There is at least one detailed writeup on the front conversion. The front is the most time consuming as you will have some grinding to do. My advice is to do one axle on one weekend and the other the following. That way you won't be as rushed to "git er done". The rear should be pretty much bolt on.

Tumble Weed...is that all i need? what else would go on that list? about how much did your budget run on that if you don't mind me asking.

Posimoto: I read the tech article, but it is for a 25 not a 27 and i didn't know if all of it was convertable.

it is a pretty complete list in the tech section and if it is complete that would be great.

i may start with the rear and move on to the front. what about my master CYL...don't i have to replace it with a upgraded version?

When it comes to mounting disk brakes on the front of an early cj5, dana 25/27 makes no difference, both are the same.

There's a nice write-up on the pirate4x4 site for the rear conversion using suzuki samuri front rotors and rear nissan 300z calipers. You have to make your own bracket to hold the caliper, but looks pretty cheap and easy. I think a corvette M/C works well. You need a M/C made for a disc/disc set-up. Good luck!

Just looking for a writeup or parts list for the rear.

right now i have the following for a parts list.

Caliper bracket form the front of a 72 Chevy 3/4 ton 2wd
Backing plate from the front of a 72 Chevy 3/4 ton 2wd.
    Calipers are from a 88 Suburban K20 4x4. 3/4 ton
Rotors are from a front end of a 78-86 Bronco full size
    New braided line from frame.

WHAT Kind of master cyl do i need if i am running front a rear disc.
the writeup said to run a: 66-71 CJ5 dual Chamber one will work if i remove the 10lb pressure valve and add a 2lb one...is this a hard process? will i need a flare tool?

Parts for the rear swap on a Dana 41/44 should be the same as for a Dana 25/27. Remember, the front axle on the pre-88 GM pickups was a Dana 44. ;)

And yes, the Corvette MC should bolt up to the stock bracket with little, if any mods to the bracket. You may have to fab up a new pedal link, but that's about it.

ok here is what i have and the final few questions before i make the first trip to the parts store. I plan on doing the master cyl and rear first, then in two weeks do the front.

Front i have the following parts needed.(from writeup)

    Chevy parts are from a '76 Chevy 1/2 -ton 4x4 truck.(K10)

    o Caliper mounts x2
    o Calipers x2
    o Disc Brake pads x2
o New caliper mounting pins x2
    o New anti-rattle clips x2
o Brake hoses !!!I plan on a 2.5-3" lift will these be long enough?
    o Banjo bolts x2
Jeep parts are from a 76-77 Jeep CJ-5 with 1-1/8" thick rotors.

    o Rotors x2
o Wheel studs 1/2" longer than original x10

REAR PARTS(Could this same list be used for the front???)

o Pre 87 Chevy 1/2 ton backing plates for 6 bolt axles x2
    o Pre 87 Chevy 1/2 ton calipers x2
o Set Chevy Brake Pads x1
o Chevy 1/2 ton Caliper sliding Pins x4
o Chevy Front Brake Hoses (same year as calipers) x2????
o 78 Jeep CJ disc for 6 bolt mount x2
    o 78 Jeep CJ Wheel studs Mopar# J5357196

    Master CYL from Corvette(WHAT YEAR?)

Will my existing hard lines be ok for the swap?

will i need a pressure valve in the lines anywhere?

I know i will have to grind on the front steering knuckles, any where else?

THanks to all that have helped sofar.

    Tommy
