The one that was in the Bucket was leaking badly , so I picked up one from Wheelie yesterday.... same shape and size but there's differences... mine had the sending unit in the top with 6 screws and the feed line came out the bottom and went thru the floor , return line came back and went in the top near the fuel inlet (although this did not look to be origional).... the one I got from Wheelie did not have a sending unit with it , but it is different from mine in that it looks like it would drop in and have a turn lockring , and the bung on the bottom has a pipe plug in it and it looks like it was there for quite awhile.... any idea what years this tank was for and was the tank that was in the Bucket to begin with origional ?? The service manual shows that the feed and return lines should come in from the top on v-6 and 4 cyl models .... and where did the fuel lines run on v-6 models ?? in the service manual it shows them coming out of the top of tank, going up the pass side, up over the motor across the intake and down to the fuel pump... is this correct ?? sorry for the long winded post but this has me confused...

Think the bung is to drain the tank.

my 67 has the feed line coming from under the tank with a return line coming to the top with a extra plug for draining on the bottom. i can't help with the routing... i put it back the way it made sense to me, along the frame rail right to the fuel pump.

My '67 has the feed from the bottom, the return on the top. I added a vent in the sending unit plate, which will be the return in the MTS plastic tank that should be here in a week or so...... I also ordered a vented cap with check valve from Eric at MTS, and he assured me that the vented cap they sell will vent properly, and will not leak fuel....

Evans: IIRC the later 1970 and '71 rear tanks also had the screw-in sending units. Perhaps that trend began in the '70 underseat tank??

FWIW, my '66 underseat tank was a 4-cyl dealio, and I have the return orifice (on top) plugged as the fuel pump had no option for it. The bottom had no drain (or it was braized over) but does have the fuel outlet there....I had to have the radiator shop replace the 1/4" fuel outlet with a larger 5/16" tube for my V6. Now enuf fuel gets to the V6 meats!

Thanks guys , sounds like the Bucket did have the origional tank , sounds like the one I got from Wheelie is a later one , I'll just have to get the correct sending/fuel line unit for it.
