Dana 25 ball/u-joint failure. Will a Dana 27 inner axle fit?

Okay, was using my CJ2A for some farm work, and noticed the left front tire locking up and banging. Pulled the knuckle off and sure enough, the ball style u-joint let go. So I look here, and it says I have a Dana 25 axle. I happen to have a Dana 27 in the basement, so I pulled the inner axle out of it.

The dana 27 inner axle uses a snap ring. The Dana 25 has threads.

The dana 25 inner axle has a bearing or seal surface machined on the longer shaft, right behind the u-joint. The Dana 27 is just cast in the same spot.

Will the axle out of the dana 27 fit in the dana 25? All the lengths and spline counts are the same.
    Thanks,
    Dennis

I love how you can take parts from a 20 year newer jeep, and still have most of the parts fit.
    Thanks for the info!

Shafts will absolutely fit, a great upgrade in my book. Used parts of a 60 something CJ5 for my 47 2A. I think its a great upgrade.

Upgraded myself from the old Bendix style joints to the "newer cardan cross style joints" found them on ebay for cheap.
