I have no clue what package my jeep is for someone painted right over the decals. I am redoing everything and hoping someone can help to know what model I have? I-6 w/ alloy wheels.

try this link for VIN decoding. If you don't find what you need, scroll to the top of this page & click the search button...search serial numbers or vin & you will locate what you need. Also, a whole bunch of our brethern will probably chime in & direct you to what you need. I just did a quick search & found this...took 1 minute.

The vin itself won’t tell you the trim package although there is a trim option number right above the vin.

    Edit: Oh, Welcome aboard

    Welcome from Boston!

Just to amplify on what Chuck wrote, if you look at the VIN plate there are several rows of numbers. The FSMs that I've seen decode the purpose of each number, but not neccessarily the meaning. The trim and paint code are probably the two numbers above the VIN. TTBOMK the only way to decode the trim number is using the factory parts books. The FPBs will list the decals and their Jeep/AMC/DC part numbers. Some FPBs are available as reprints http://www.bjsoffroad.com/cartgenie/prodList.asp?scat=120 but are spendy. Except for the early Renegades, stripes came with appearance packages and don't neccessarily imply specific other options.

Take a look at Golden Eagle http://www.goldeneagledecals.com/ for some ideas of what stripes were available.

    hth!

You can also find a CD of the FPM on Ebay for $10. I haven’t bought one because the seller never replies to my questions. Hmm could be a good reason for that.
