What's the tape for?

    Found this pic on a thread here and wanted to know what the duck tape was for? Preventing movement when inserting trans main shaft I suppose?

    that is fine duct tape work, usally reserved for patching rust holes

    Pardon my ignorance kind sir but you kid, yes? :rofl:

    If it's just a po mans dust boot well poop. I thought it was used to keep the fork from moving when doing tranny werk.

    That's what I'd assume, although I've never had to "support" a clutch fork while installing a trans.....

    That pic looks like its from when Tim changed the clutch in Lulu. maybe he'll chime in as to why he duct taped it :? Possibly to keep the TO bearing lined up :?

    Yep, I've likewise used similar tape setup to hold the fork in place whilst slappin' in the tranny on the '71. I prefer the stock gray duct tape. :D
