New to site "Great Read" tons of information.

A bubby of mine ask me to do some research to find out what his crate motor was worth. He recently purchased a 1966 CJ5 "very clean" that included an extra short block still in the original crate. Unfortunately, circumstances caused him to sell the Jeep but he did not include the motor in the sale.

The numbers on the block were 19J4 (does that mean 1974?) and on the bottom was 991503 (block casting 1967-1974)

Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

I might be interested in that motor if he wants to sell it .

I know. Did you check the areas where the block numbers are indicated on the page linked too?

Yes, he selling it but first he has to figure out a value.

I checked the block numbers and found that 991503 = 67-74 225 V6, but I am trying to narrow that down. The number I can't figure out is the 19J4 on the top front of the block.

I was asking about the engine numbers on the side...

I know you found the casting number. I know those when I see 'em.

The engine numbers aren't on top in front. I was asking if you had looked in the location that's indicated on the page I linked too?

I tried that link to OOPS. Thanks for the effort Hippo393

Just to clear the air Vanguard. I didn't ask the question to cause any problems. It's not my motor, I'm not trying to sell it to any of you, and if someone feels the need to ban me from this site for what I thought was a legitimate question, you have the power to do that. My thinking was this is an original short block in it's original crate from the late 60's. I thought there might be more value with this motor than going to a junk yard and rebuilding a 35 year old V6 from a rusted out Buick.

Sorry if I ruffled any feathers here. After reviewing the site and seeing the passion the member have for their Jeeps, I anticipated a different response.

We had a bad experience with someone with a crate motor here a while back. It's not what you've done persay but what someone else did before you.

Methinks that Buick site has a demon that polices linking from other sites. I got the same result when I tried to link to them to show the bellhousing mounting on a nailhead many moons ago. Somehow they move the links around to substitute that snotty (IMO) message. Such linkage would be allowed under the fair use doctrine IMO.

That is snotty, if you're linking directly to their page.

I thought I "fixed" it since it wasn't displaying an image. Bandwidth issues I understand. But that is excessive accusing me of being a pirating site and that they have "recorded" the information. Sheesh.
