My name is CJ. :flag: I just bought a 1955 CJ5. It is my eighth Jeep older than 1974. The VIN is 12725, or the 2,725th CJ5. It is 98% original. It has the original paint and very minor surface rust. It was registered here in arizona in 1955 or 1956 (I have a copy of the original title, but hard to read.) It was one owner with a very interesting story behind it. I am interested in pictures and such of this year and the nuances. I notice the military frame and military stampings that were modified by Wiilys to accomodate the civilian line. Any others out there with very early 5's?

Hey There. Where at in AZ? (you can to to user CP and fill in your profile so we can all see it.) Wouldn't mind linking up with someone with a similar vehicle for trail runs. Seems that most around here are running newer vehicles. Heck, I can't even drive the Jeep to most the trails, I have to trailer it. LOL.

What can I add to the profile? I don't see anywhere in User CP to add additional info. Will be a long time before I take the jeep out. Needs brakes, seals, wiring, adjustments, etc. Just got it last night. I am kind of a purist now after so many rock crawlers and crazy mods.

This is the story: Original and only owner was part of a very wealthy family back east. To avaoid the draft, his parents pulled some strings and put him into a hospital. When the war (or service) was over, all the men came back in town with their uniforms and their service jeeps. Fearing he might be beat up or ridiculed, he bought my Jeep from the army in '55. He then decided not to be a banker like the rest of the Snow family and decided to move to Arizona to be a cowboy. That is what he did and landed in Queen Creek, AZ. He died at 85 a few years ago. His "soulmate", as she described herself, inherited the jeep and knew nothing about it other than the fact that he maintained it regularly, told everyone never to remove or throw away an original part, and only drove it to pick up the dog when it ran away. God rest his soul. I will take good care of it. I have the original owners manual and the "4 Wheel Drive" pamphlet that came with the jeep and told how to operate the 4 wheel drive. It needs some mechanical work.

I just found that I have the original owner's manual, original "4wheel drive" handout, original keys (one for the glove box, that works!), and jack. Also has a roundish heater with "willys" on the front. Anyone seen one. Looks like a dealer add. Also, ever see a vaccuum wiper on the left and an original hand wiper on the right?

Greetings from New York. If I figured out how to post photos, any one can! I used to live in Scottsdale, and would wheel in the superstitions all the time. Good luck with your '56.
