Hey all, I have a 1972 CJ5 with the factory seat brackets, and im missing the sliders. The seats that are in there are not the original and do not fit the jeep at all. I have been searching through the forums and have found that the original seats were the low back style, and most people go with that. However, I would really like to install high back seats. The trouble is, I have not found anything that says it will fit. Does anyone know any aftermarket high back seats that will fit?? I want to stay under the $200 range per seat if at ALL possible, and another plus would be seats that would allow a 5 point harness... But if not, just regular vynil high back seats would be great. Thanks for any info!!

We have seats that aren't supposed to fit. We had to weld a bracket on the bottom of the new seats that lined up with the original seat hardware. Bolted it all together and it fits great.

They are Steel Horse seats. I have been really happy with them. The only problem I have is with finding cheap seat covers that fit.

Do the PRP's bolt directly on to the factory frame without mods? If so, is there plenty of room between you and the steering wheel? I think that is going to be the biggest problem... let me know what model too.

If you are willing to do some fab work there a many seats from a junkyard that can be adapted to the stock frames.

Mine are tied into the cage. But they will not bolt directly up. I dont think you'll find a aftermarket seat that will just bolt in. Pretty much any of them are going to need some sort of bracket made. I have the premier low back models. I'm 6'2" and its tight. But its not any worse than it was with the stock seats. These have the places for 5 points, and I plan oneventually getting them but havnt got around to it yet.

My Steel Horse seats sit differently so I actually have more leg room now. They seem to lean back a bit.

I found some seats from a place called KUSTOMFIT, and they have high backs and low backs.. They are reasonably priced and say they will fit from '55-present. Is this correct? Because it would be great if I didnt have to do any fabrication to the brackets, because messing with the brackets makes me a little nervous.

Also, does anyone know where I can find the sliders for a '72? I cant seem to locate any...

    Thanks!

Bump, still looking for sliders... Also, I plan on ordering the high back model from kustomfit... it seems to be exactily the same dimentions as the lowback but extended, so I dont see any problems with fit. Please correct me if you find a reason that they may not fit...

I have kustomfits in my 74 took them out of my 80 CJ5, the drivers side bolted right to the factory slider the pass side didn't have a slider it had the tilt and the seat had to be modified to fit. Theres a yard in Dacono CO that'll ship you a slider for 45 bucks plus shipping. I was up there today and he has a couple for the older CJs I saw I was looking for parts for my 80. Its jeepsunlimited.net. He's kind of a dork but will get you the right part, beats over 100 bucks new

Awesome, I will def. be getting in touch with that junk yard with a list of miscellaneous stuff I need, sliders included.

How do you like your kustomfit seats? Do you have the high or low tops? They look like they would be fairly comfortable.. and would I be able to run 4 or 5 point harnesses with the high tops in any way?

Mine are the highback, Very comfortable but I don't think you can run a 5 point unless it somehow mount it to the seat frame
