    That's the original paint and it is shiny underneath so it must have been put on very early in its life.

    They are on the top lips of the rear of the tub. Two on each side.

    Yup, those are stock. Identical to the ones that came on my '56, including the funky one on the w/s top. HTH

    Yep, all that stuff is for the original top, before the convertible types. My first CJ5 had all that stuff and the top was canvas. Somewhere I've got pics. The little clips are springy and a horizontal bar went there along the bottom to hold the side down. Had straps also instead of snaps. I've still got my old clips like that.

    The side clips look like some kind of tie-down. My '59 has the same door/top pieces in the front.
