Anyone here installed this or know about it???

What is the difference between the CARB and offroad setup??? I know one is emissions legal, but how is the setup different??

I have no emissions equipment, was wondering if I could install the emissions kit?

    Thanks

CARB = California Air Resources Board. Smog legal in CA. You pay extra for the development and bureaucratic costs, you get a special PROM, and you get a sticker to attach somewhere under the hood that has the CARB number. Lets you add FI and still pass inspection. CA still requires you to keep all the existing equipment except the carb and air cleaner.

Different states have different standards, and go about the inspection with a visual test, a sniffer test, or both. You may be able to pass a smog with the off-road kit if your state has no visual inspection.

Iowa doesn't have any type of smog inspection. We are lucky I guess:) :)

PROM is programmable read-only memory. The PROM contains the calibration data specific to the application.

I expect the CARB version would work fine, but you really don't gain anything from it if you do not live in CA. Only modifications with a CARB number can be used in CA, so they are worth the premium price to the residents of CA. I'd expect the off-road kit would run with a richer mixture, and make more power than the CARB-certified version.

CARB version would have a vehicle speed sensor at least my emissions legal 360 kit does. the offroad kit did not.
