Shift Knob

    Hey I have a 75 CJ5 and for the life of me I can't get the shift knob off. Does anyone know how to remove the stock shift knob? I know something so simple should be easy but this is the only thing I'g having a problem with.

    IIRC there's a jam nut below the knob, it puts pressure against the knob so it won't turn. Back down the jam nut, then the knob should turn off.

    Wow - what a coincidence.

    I've got a '74 CJ-5, and I can't for the life of me keep the damned shift knob on. Top of the shifter is threaded, but the blasted thing keeps coming off in my hand.

    Royal pain when you're doing a quick shift from F to R and your knuckles hit the windshield with the knob still in your hand...
