t-case frame mount

    I'm doing frame off on my jeep (1973 CJ5). I have a 1 foot long band on each frame rail inside the C channel where the transfr case cross member mounts. Are they stock? If so, should they be welded on? Only the ends of the bands are attached to the frame with no sings of welding. Should the be welded? or are they rusted in place, and I didn't pry hard enough to free them?

    Vaguely from my memory, yes stock. Don't recall how they would be attached - welding across the rails is bad though. I would expect they have a couple of spots of weld or maybe plug welds. They would not need to be welded very well to distribute the load across the rail.
