Well, yesterday I put the finishing touches on the rotisserie I built to hold my ECJ5 body. I plan to do a tech writeup on it, but here are a few pics to show what it looks like. (if I can get them loaded)

This is an assembly pic (before it's painted)

Here's how the fornt attaches, using the fender mount holes.

And the rear, using the tailgate hinge mounting holes.

Here's the first time I saw the bottom of Shaggy without lying on the floor or in the mud.

More to come later, I just want to see if these pics loaded OK.
After previewing the post, it looks like they came out ok, except for the ham handed photographer (me) who couldn't keep his mitt out of the pic.

I didn't do quite that an elaborate of a set up, but I did put my body on wheels when I was working on it. You'll be happy you spent the time to make it! Looks great!

Steel prices very greatly from area to area. Steel for fabbing stuff has gone up immensely but tool steel prices haven't changed much in the last 10-12 years. I can get tubing and flat bar fairly cheap but alot of it has to do wiith having steel mills close by and having 4-5 steel processing and salvage yards around.

That's right. With no steel scrapyards around Denver that I could find, I had to go to a steel supplier. I priced out about 6 of them and the most economical I could find cost me Just under $150 for everything, including bolts, nuts, paint, casters and steel. I have seen some guys make them out of HF 1000# engine stands but you need 3 of them (at $40 each on sale) and then you have to rework them. Besides, their wheels are too small. The wheels I got from Northern Tool on sale for $4 each. They're rubber tired with a brake.

 I meant to say for the steel only:oops: Around here it's pretty reasonable, I just built a 7'9" grinding rail for my son for 20 bux (1x2x1/8 tube, 48" of 2x2x1/4 tube and 48" of 4x1/4 flat stock)

Tommy - North I25 on the E frontage road just S of the Flea Market. Good places to get scrap steel and new cut lengths.

Last fall was $.35 / pound.

  Wow Tom!! I most definitely have to bring the dog over for a visit now!!! I gotta see that and get the details, dimensions, materials list, etc. I need to build a copy of that. How well is it balanced? Is it easy to rotate the body?

Send me a PM with your phone number and address again, willya? I don't know where that stuff is at the moment, it's easier to just get them from you again. Thanks!!
