dana 18 identification

    having trouble ID'n my trnsfr cse. Big hole? Small hole? 26 tooth 6 spline? what's it all mean? in a 56 willys f4 t 90 d18 d44 tapered help...need to know for warn OD purchase:?

    Hey there from Phoenix!

    My guess is that you have the small hole being a '56 and all, but I will defer to other's opinions.

    If you take off the rear (round) cover and snap a pic, I'm sure that someone here can give you the definitive skinny.

    the PTO cover?

    The flat plate on the back with five bolts holding it on.

    The hole size you would be looking for, is in between the transmission and the transfer case.

    And the hole size doesn't matter for the OD. You just need the tooth count of the gear you'll see when you remove the cover. That gear gets replaced by the one with the OD.

    i've been told its prbly a 26tooth 6 spline but dont buy anything till i check which ill do this wkend...thanks everyone
