I was wondering what axle and gear ratio came in the rear end of a cj2a and 3b. I am considering it as a swap from my budy's jeep into my 62. Would it work as a direct swap? Thanks

They had different axles in the early years D41 vs the D44 from the later early models.
If you look at the webbing near the diff cover it will have either a 41 or a 44.
For the ratios I'm not sure, but if the tags are still on the cover, (some times they are missing,) it will tell you the ratio.
Other wise you will need to pop the cover and count the teeth on both the ring gear and the pinion gear.
Post the numbers here and we can tell you the ratio.

Most common was 5.38. I have seen a 3B with 4.88s factory stock though. When in doubt, count it out!R)

The tooth count should be stamped into the edge of the ring gear. Divide to get the ratio.
